The northeastern state of Manipur has two seats, and in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the state went to poll in two phases, first on April 11 and the other on April 18.
While polling in the outer Manipur parliamentary constituency was largely peaceful in the first phase, voting in the Inner Manipur parliamentary constituency which voted in the second phase was marred by complaints of malfunctioning of Electronic Voting Machines or EVMs and poll violence, resulting which polling undertaken in 12 booths was declared "void" by the Election Commission.
Re-polling was held in the 12 booths in the constituency on April 24 amid enhanced security arrangements.
Among the 2 seats, Bharatiya Janata Party won one and another one was won by Naga's People Front.
In the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha Elections, Manipur will conduct the election in the first phase, starting from April 19. The northeastern state will go to polls and elect two members of the 18th Lok Sabha.
Manipur has two Lok Sabha constituencies; Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency, with 937,464 electors and Outer Manipur, reserved for scheduled tribes and with 1,022,099 electors.
