More power to you... Waiting for the next post...
Here’s how my story began. I came to this world in the winter of 1975. To be precise, it was in the month of December when North India feels the reasonable blushes of winter!
I was the second child born into a lower middle class Brahmin Family in Jhansi, an Indian town fabled after the Queen Rani Lakshmi Bai, the valiant fighter against British rule in India.
But my story isn’t that beautiful from the very beginning. Don't really know if it was my dusky complexion that I inherited from my dad or being a girl child was the real reason of the constant discrimination. Or maybe it was the deadly polio which struck me at the age of 2, weakening my lower limbs. Truth be told, I grew up being reminded that I am a burden on the family.
My father was an electrical engineer and whatever he use earn could barely fulfil our basic needs.
I never really got much affection from my mother. Yet my father’s love kept me going. With time, the finances got better and I could finally go to school with my brother. The school was a place where I could be at ease and find my real self. It helped me unleash the playful self of a naughty kid that I have always been.
Well, school didn’t go that easy either. I got scolded for being too chatty, participating in extra activities in school and I never understood why my brother wasn’t said a thing for doing the exact same. Still can’t find a reason as to why my brother was the favourite one of the family and not me.
My brother got the best of the clothes and delicacies. He could go out and play with friends. I was supposed to be with my mother all the time, helping her with all household chores.
To be continued…
