Tawa Frankie is a popular Indian street food dish made with a wrap filled with spicy and flavorful ingredients. Here's a basic recipe:
Ingredients;
- 4 large tortillas or chapatis (Indian flatbreads)
- 1 cup cooked and shredded chicken or paneer (Indian cottage cheese) for vegetarian option
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 1 large capsicum, chopped
- 1 large tomato, chopped
- 1/2 cup shredded cabbage
- 1/4 cup chopped coriander leaves
- 2-3 green chilies, chopped
- 1 teaspoon ginger-garlic paste
- 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon garam masala
- 1 teaspoon chaat masala
- Salt to taste
- 2 tablespoons oil
Instructions;
1 Heat oil in a large pan or tawa over medium heat. Add sliced onions and sauté until translucent.
2 Add ginger-garlic paste and chopped green chilies. Sauté for another minute. Add sliced capsicum and cabbage. Cook until they are slightly tender.
3 Add turmeric powder, garam masala, chaat masala, and salt. Mix well. Add shredded chicken or paneer and mix until well combined with the spices and vegetables. Cook for 2-3 minutes.
4 Warm the tortillas or chapatis on the tawa for a few seconds on each side. Place a portion of the filling mixture on one side of the tortilla or chapati. Add sliced tomatoes and chopped coriander leaves on top of the filling. Roll the tortilla or chapati tightly to form a wrap, tucking in the sides as you roll.
5 Repeat with the remaining tortillas or chapatis and filling mixture. Serve hot with your favorite chutney or sauce.Enjoy your delicious Tawa Frankie!
