Lakshadweep Lok Sabha constituency covers the entire area of the Union Territory of Lakshadweep in India.
It has the sole seat of the Lok Sabha which went to polls on April 11 along with 90 other Lok Sabha constituencies. This seat is reserved for Scheduled Tribes.
The island and Union Territory of Lakshadweep didn't have an elected Member of Parliament till 1967.
In 2019 general elections, Lakshadweep, the smallest Lok Sabha constituency with 54,266 voters, has six contenders in the fray from the Congress, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), Communist Party of India (CPI), Janata Dal-United (JD-U) and the NCP.
Mohammed Faizal Padippur of the Nationalist Congress Party won the seat of Lakshadweep in the 2019 General Elections.
The Election Commission of India (EC) announced that Lok Sabha elections in Lakshadweep will take place in a single phase on April 19. The counting of votes will be done along with all other states on June 4.
