After completing his first season in north London by scoring in our 5-0 win against Wolves, Gabriel Jesus feels it has been one to remember.

The Brazilian striker netted his 11th goal of an injury-hit campaign during our emphatic final-day win to help send our Gooners into the summer with something to smile about, and he feels that we’re on the right path to build again next term.

Reflecting on his first season in red and white, he said: “It was good. Unfortunately, we didn’t win a trophy which was our target, but I think we had a good season, very good.

“We are building a good atmosphere from inside and outside, the fans coming with us always supporting, pushing us. We want to come here today, enjoy and play good football like we did for 90 per cent of the season, playing good football. We won the game, and then after enjoyed it with our family and friends. Everyone is together, so it was a good day.”

With a return to the Champions League on the cards next season, Gabby can’t wait for those big matches against Europe’s elite, as well as another attempt at trying to lift the Premier League trophy.

But before then, having had a busy 12 months that has seen him switch from Manchester City to ourselves, play in a World Cup, recover from a knee injury and participate in a title race, our striker is looking forward to relaxing back in his homeland and hopes that his teammates can do the same.

“Now I’ll have some time with family and friends, back to Brazil to enjoy and see my family and friends, then after this holiday I’ll come back focused 100 per cent to go again.

“The players who have a holiday can enjoy and have a great time with family and friends, and those who go to the national team can enjoy that a lot, then have a break after, and come back for the next season.”
