IPL: When it comes to money, batsmen rules over bowlers
In the action packed T20 format IPL (Indian Premier League), batsmen have more influence then bowlers as far as money is concerned.
In the top 10 players' overall gross salary ranking in IPL, there is only one bowler Sunil Narine, who is ranked sixth, and an allrounder Shane Watson, ranked 10. Rest all spots goes in the kitty of batsmen.
Right-arm off break bowler Narine, who plays for Kolkata Knight Riders, has so far earned ₹95.24 crore from salaries in IPL. He is part of the league since 2012.
He has 128 wickets to his credit with six four-wicket haul and one five-wicket haul. He is 8th in tue ranking of highest wicket takers.
All the five spots above Narine, are part of the 100 crore club and all are batsmen.
Fast-medium bowler and batsman Watson, who played for Chennai Super Kings, had 92 wickets under his belt and is ranked 18th in the highest wicket taker list. While, he scored 3874 runs, with four centuries and 21 fifty plus knocks, and is ranked 13th in highest run getters list. He wad part of IPL till last year.
Money in 2021
In the 2021 salary contracts of the players, bowlers have little bit larger share as compared to overall figures. There are two bowlers and three allrounder in the top-10 money earnings list.
Australian pacer Pat Cummins is the highest paid bowler in 2021 IPL and is ranked third. His salary contract with Kolkata Knight Riders is for ₹15.5 crore. Narine is ranked 10th with a contract for ₹12.5 crore.
Indian skipper Virat Kohli is the highest paid cricketer in 2021 IPL. His contract with Royal Challenger Bangalore is for ₹17 crore. While, South African allrounder Christopher Morris is at second place with contract for ₹16.26 crore. He is playing for Rajasthan Royals.
