In the polarised American election, why convicted Donald Trump is no pushover?
That Donald Trump is an unusual politician or even an un -American leader is a statement steeped in the mundane.
And a US court finding him guilty is no public square moment of absolute angst where the consciousness of the American voters will meet their proclaimed idealism half way to hand Donald Trump a dressing down in unison.
Elections are not so much about people watching a morality play or always looking for the moral of the story in everything that unfolds expectedly or unexpectedly about their Presidential candidate. The meanings of villain and hero get jumbled up in the arena of elections
That Trump is getting the kind of support he has been getting shows his popularity, his ability to diminish his opponents, channelise people's revenge and offer a vision that looks so convincing to millions of people while angering the liberal establishment in the United States.
What are the obvious outcomes of the Trump verdict on the impending US elections?
Well, watch out for the impact of the verdict on
the undecided—particularly in the most critical states of Michigan, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Nevada, North Carolina, and Arizona.
But politics, let alone electoinerring, is a black and white game. So it remains to be seen how many of these undecided voters are convinced that a felony conviction disqualifies Trump from a second term as their Commander-in-Chief and capitain of their country's destiny.
Trump has been on a roll against the Biden getting re elected. Trump is a man of the extremes. For him moderation equals courting the demons. He often warns people against "lawwless, open-borders, crime-ridden, filthy, communist nightmare," in case incumbent Joe Biden is voted back.
Trump's supporters are not those who are looking for a squeaky past in him. They know what he is; and he will be as their president. They have little problem with his views on migration, NATO and Vladimir Putin. Many people are willing to forego the mainstream media's portrayal of Trump as a wrecker of established American way of seeing things, doing business and leading their lives.
