In the elections held for ten seats of Uttar Pradesh in Rajya Sabha on Tuesday, BJP won eight seats and SP won two seats due to cross voting of seven SP MLAs and one Subhash SP MLA. Despite the support of Congress, Samajwadi Party's third candidate and former Chief Secretary Alok Ranjan lost the election. BJP's RPN Singh, Amar Pal Maurya, Tejveer Singh, Naveen Jain, Sadhna Singh, Dr. Sudhanshu Trivedi and Dr. Sangeeta Balwant Singh and SP's Jaya Amitabh Bachchan and Ramji Lal Suman reached Rajya Sabha.A few days before the declaration of Lok Sabha election notification, BJP gave a blow to SP in the state and not only got one additional seat but also included seven MLAs in its fold. Voting for Rajya Sabha elections started from 9 am on Tuesday.
