If you thought our country couldn’t get any more ridiculous, the famous candy company behind M&M’s, Mars, Inc., has recently announced that it will “take an indefinite pause” from their famous “spokescandies.” The M&M spokescandies are the humanoid M&M characters that are generally seen in M&M commercials and advertisements.
The change comes as a result of the politicization of the characters by Mars. The original design for the woman spokescandies featured one with heels and one with stilettos to make them “more inclusive, welcoming, and unifying.”. Then, a purple female spokescandy was introduced to the lineup representing “acceptance and inclusivity.”
Mars obviously politicized the characters themselves by playing into the hands of the far left. M&M’s is a candy, not a beacon of change. Of course, liberal media outlets are quick to call out Republicans for their outrage over the seemingly innocuous changes of a candy company, but this ad hominem attack purposely misses the point that the entirety of the outrage is over the fact that the far-left is commandeering culture — in this case, some of the most recognizable brand mascots.
