When I was going through a little something, almost a year back I wrote this line
"So, how long does it hurt, before it doesn't hurt anymore?"
I think I have an answer to that today.
Well, it hurts until you hug the pain. The hurt is like a little child throwing a fit. No matter how much you scold them or ignore them, the crying and wailing doesn't stop until you actually listen to what they want. Until you communicate to them that they are heard and seen. Until you give them a big hug, pat their head, and tell them, "It's okay."
"Hurt" is a way our body throws a fit. All agitated, overwhelmed, crying, and anxious. Until you actually sit down and listen. Until you talk to yourself and find out what is going on with your little head and heart. Until you hug the pain, until it goes away.
Embracing our current circumstances and accepting the changed flow of life is a difficult task. To expect ourselves to play with it instantly is rude and harsh. Give yourself the time to accept your circumstances. And the best way to do it is to hug your pain first; that's how you will know if it truly hurts somewhere or if we're just throwing a fit.
The longer you take to hug your pain, the longer the "hurt" stays.
Peace and love ♡
