The temperature is set to rise further over the week ahead, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast.
The maximum temperature of 39.4 degrees, recorded at the Safdarjung weather station, the city's base observatory, was three degrees above the normal for this time of the year. On April 13 too, Delhi recorded a similar maximum temperature. The minimum temperature of 24.3 degrees Celsius, recorded early on Friday, was also three degrees above the normal. Parts of the city recorded traces of rainfall, cloudy skies, and strong winds of 25 to 35 kmph.
The maximum temperature is set to hit 40 degrees Celsius by April 23, going by the IMD forecast. It is likely to rise further to 41 degrees on April 24 and 25.
On Saturday, strong winds of 25 to 35 kmph are expected, along with a maximum temperature of 39 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 21 degrees Celsius.
