Adapting to circumstances
Who won't be frightened by the rage of such a disease. Since past one year many unanticipated things have occurred, the threat of corona virus had and is continuously intimidating people. What stays with them is hope.
Emily Dickinson in her poem :'"Hope" is the thing with feathers', has very well portrayed the significance of hope. She says that what never leaves one's side in even the most callous situation is the "hope".
In surviving amidst Covid-19, hope has helped alot of people and mostly the elderly . Interacting and listening to the old people, I got to know what they think of the pandemic and what are their ways of tackling such a situation. These people have lived their life bravely and they think nothing can overpower the human beings if they know how to fight with it.
My grandmother is 75, she always loves being surrounded by a lot of people.
Her evening were never completed without meeting her neighbourhood friends and talking to them. For finding a solution to her problem she has started learning the use of social media so well. She says that her conversations have become easier through the video calls now. What I have always heard from her is that "everything happens for a reason" and what needs to be worked upon is our way of adapting to every situation bravely and trying to survive in every possible way.
She says that one should never lose hope in any of the situation, it's something that brings light in life.
Karuna is 70, lives near my house. The day I called her to ask her about her health she answered that she's doing well and has learned alot of things. She spends most of her time listening to bhajans and doing gardening. Her son has recently recovered from Covid, she tested positive first but got recovered soon. She says that the disease has made her strong and it will go soon.
These old people seems to be more enthusiastic and hopeful about the situation and they have learnt all new ways to make it easier.
