Have Two Losses in One Week Ended Arsenal 2023/24 Season for Good?
Going into the game against Aston Villa last Sunday, Arsenal had the chance to go on top of the Premier League. The Gunners also had a psychological advantage over a struggling Bayern Munich side ahead of their second leg tie in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals.
However, Mikel Arteta's side were in for a massive shock on Sunday, losing 2-0 to a high-flying Aston Villa side at the Emirates Stadium. Bayern Munich rubbed more salts on Arsenal's wounds last night, knocking the Gunners out of the UEFA Champions League with a 1-0 win at the Allianz Arena.
Owing to the two losses, Arsenal are staring down the barrel, looking at another underwhelming season. The London-based club have been knocked out of the Champions League, FA Cup, and the League Cup with the Premier League now their only chance to win another trophy this season.
Manchester City, who were also dumped out of the UEFA Champions League, are currently on top of the Premier League with 73 points. Arsenal are second with 71 points with just six games remaining this season. Liverpool are also on 71 points and their main focus is also on the Premier League at the moment.
With the title race quite close, Can Mikel Arteta salvage the season or will the Gunners have to be content with just the Community Shield that they won to kick off the 2023-24 season? Let me know your thoughts...
