Mountain Harmukh, also known as Mount Haramukh, is located in Jammu and Kashmir's Ganderbal district and has a peak elevation of 5,142 metres. The Himalayan mountain range Harmukh, which rises above Gangabal Lake near Kashmir Valley, is situated between Nallah Sindh in the south and Kishanganga Neelum River in the north. The majority of the ascent is made from Arin Bandipore's northwest side. Members of the Great Trigonometric Survey under the direction of Thomas Montgomerie made the first ascent of Harmukh in 1856. About 210 kilometres to the north, Montgomerie conducted the first survey of the Karakoram and sketched its two most notable peaks, designating them K1 and K2. Later, numerous additional climbers attempted to ascend Harmukh.
