Taapsee was born on August 1, 1987, in Delhi in a Jat Sikh family. Taapsee holds an engineering degree in Computer Science from Guru Tegh Bahadur Institute of Technology. Before becoming a model and actress, Pannu worked as a software engineer.

Renowned Bollywood actor Taapsee Pannu has also worked in Malayalam, Telugu films other than Hindi films.

Pannu made her debut with the Tamil movie Aadukalam, directed by Vetrimaaran and starring Dhanush in the lead. The film was critically acclaimed and went on to win several National Awards.
