Absolutely, diving into the deep end of gender and culture as social constructs in our lives, especially from the jump in childhood, is like peeling back layers of an onion.
This convo hit different!!
For 2 whole hours in college today, we unpacked this massive suitcase of norms, expectations, and straight-up societal blueprints that kinda script how we're supposed to act, dress, and even think based on the gender box we're checked into at birth.
We were all vibin' on how these constructs are not just old-school fairy tales but real talk that shapes our every move. It's wild to think about how something as fluid as gender and culture gets boxed in by traditions and norms.
It’s like, who decided pink is for girls and blue is for boys??
Why are we still tripping on stereotypes from the 1950s in 2024??!!
The chat room was lit with stories, experiences, and legit questions about why we subscribe to these invisible rules that don’t really hold up when you give them a hard look. We talked about smashing these norms, celebrating differences, and, most importantly, letting kids be whoever they want to be without the gendered baggage.
It’s clear this topic needs more airtime. Gender and culture are massive pieces of the puzzle that is our identity, and unpacking them is key to understanding not just ourselves but the diverse world around us.
Let's keep the convo going, peeps.
