Even as the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab did not organize any official events or declare any half-day off on the day of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Ram Lalla idol at Ayodhya, ministers, and other MLAs in Punjab participated in local festivities, celebrating the day with full fervour.
Call it the vote-bank politics ahead of the crucial Lok Sabha elections in 2024 or an example of Punjab's social fabric, which has always seen harmonious co-existence of Hindu, Sikh, and Muslim communities; it was 'Ram Aayein Hain' all the way for ministers and other MLAs on Monday as they joined people in their constituencies in festivities, as reported by IndianExpress.
Going a step ahead, Punjab minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra, who participated in a huge Shobha Yatra in his constituency Samana of Patiala, announced on Monday that he would be sending buses of pilgrims to Ayodhya from Samana, totally free of cost.
Addressing the Hindu community in Samana amid a sea of saffron flags and chants of 'Jai Shri Ram,' the minister, who also distributed langar along with devotees, announced, 'Everyone was waiting for so many years for the Ram temple at Ayodhya. The day has finally come. In the first week of February, we will be sending two buses of pilgrims from Samana to Ayodhya. Anyone who wants to do darshan can go, and no one has to pay any fare for it. It is such a big occasion today for all of us that we do not have words to describe our happiness. Probably the biggest Shobha Yatra today has been taken out in Samana where we all participated, cutting across party lines. I heartily thank the Aggarwal community. I also want that you should take your children to Ayodhya so that they know of this historic moment.'
