Football Intelligence to be introduced at 2022 FIFA World Cup.
You might have heard about Artificial Intelligence but from 20th Nov 2022, get ready for Football Intelligence. From the first match of 2022 FIFA World cup at Qatar, participating nations, their players, as well as the global TV and online public will witness a new fewture. They will have access to the most up-to-date insights, measurements, and performance data in tournament history throughout the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. The expanded football intelligence service, which was created by the FIFA High Performance team and is headed by FIFA Chief of Global Football Development Arsène Wenger, will provide new and fascinating metrics to enhance the coverage and analysis of each game during the tournament.
Every game will feature a distinct set of enhanced football intelligence images that are exhibited as both augmented reality and conventional graphics during and after the game. These updated statistics give operational definitions, several video examples, and granular breakdowns of every aspect of the game. They also explicitly explain each action. This will make it possible to analyse not only what occurs on the ball but also how teams and players move and interact off the ball while they are in and out of possession.
FIFA will be able to use this data to conduct developmental analysis to better understand what it takes to advance from junior to senior level in both the men's and women's games, as well as longitudinal post-match analysis to understand how the game is evolving over time.
Football analysts, data scientists, and data engineers make up the FIFA High Performance team, which has created cutting-edge technology to deliver ground-breaking analytics and insights. There will be 11 new measures used at the FIFA World Cup 2022:
• Possession control
• Ball recovery time
• Line breaks
• Defensive line height and team length
• Final third entries
• Forced turnovers
• Pressure on the ball
• Expected goals
• Team shape
• Receptions behind midfield and defensive lines
• Phases of play
