Theo Hernandez was born 6 October 1997 and is the younger brother of Bayern Munich defender Lucas. Like Lucas, he also started off his career at Atletico Madrid but was later loaned out to Deportivo Alaves.
Later on, the La Liga side bought him in 2017 before allowing him to leave for AC Milan for a fee of €22.8 million in 2019. He is also a left-back but has more attacking sense. Theo is considered one of the best left attacking backs in the world.
The 25-year-old is good in ground duels but sometimes leaves spaces behind and commits regular mistakes. In the 2021 UEFA Nations League, he scored a late winner against Belgium in the semi-final to see France through to the final for the first time in tournament’s history.
Current form:
The left-back has participated in 18 games this season, netting twice and giving four assists so far.
World Cup record:
Theo is yet to make his appearance in the FIFA World Cup.
Overall stats:
He has featured in seven games for the French side, scoring once and providing four assists. At the club level, he has 27 goals and 37 assists to his name in 240 games.
What’s next for Theo Hernandez?
Although Theo Hernandez is a quality player, his brother Lucas is likely to get the nod for the left-back position. The French side are already blessed with world-class attackers, hence, they would want someone who can contribute more in the defense.
However, Theo could be used as a super substitute, who can bring attacking elements onto the field towards the business end of the match.
