Eric Dier is one of the least talked about members of the England squad. The Portugal-born player is barely on the radar of any news outlets or clubs. He has been a dedicated Spurs player since 2014, and despite interest from Portugal, he decided to translate this dedication to the England National team in 2015.
Starting his career as a Defensive midfielder, the England international has been utilised in different roles until he finally settled as a Center Back.
Current Form
Eric Dier’s Tottenham season has been a Jekyll and Hyde kind of season, with the team being criticised for playing terrible football but managing to get valid results. In addition to his 46 clearances and 20 interceptions, Dier has two goals in 14 games for the Spurs this season.
World Cup
Dier has been a part of England set up since 2015, playing in 3 major tournaments. He is one of those squad members who are spoiled for experience, although he has never really been an undisputed starter for England, making just 47 appearances for England. His ability and experience will be important regardless of the manager's decision with his team.
Club Career
Eric Dier came up the ranks of Sporting Lisbon. He made a standard number of appearances at the youth level before being promoted to the first team, where he played 31 games in 2 years. His longing fostered his move to Tottenham for his home country, and one year later, he was called up to the national team.
At Tottenham, he was part of the team that reached the 2015 Football League Cup Final and the 2019 UEFA Champions League Final, coming close to ending their trophy drought of so many years.
Dier has made 403 career appearances with 16 goals and 16 assists.
