Eduardo Camavinga was born on 10 November 2002 in a refugee camp in Angola. His family moved to France when he was two. He used to practice judo, but after his family’s property burned down, he gave it up to put all his focus on football and help his family.
The 20-year-old started his career at Stade Rennais and made a permanent move to La Liga side Real Madrid last year. He is a versatile midfielder and is equipped enough to play in any position in the midfield.
Carnavinga has great dribbling skills, accurate passing technique and is also good in defensive aspects of the game. This is why he is highly rated in the football world. He was also selected for the Summer Olympics in 2021 but was removed from the squad after his former club Rennes objected.
Current form:
The young midfielder has a lot of room to improve, hence, he is being provided with regular games. So far this season, he has played 20 games across all competitions. However, he is yet to deliver a goal or assist.
World Cup record:
Carnvinga has played a few games on the international stage. The 2022 FIFA World Cup will be his first major tournament.
Overall stats:
For the French national side, he has played four games and scored one goal. At the club arena, on the other hand, he has four goals and seven assists to his name in 148 games.
What’s next for Eduardo Camavinga?
Manager Didier Deschamps is likely to use an offensive 4-2-3-1 formation at the showpiece event. Hence, Eduardo Camavinga is unlikely to get the nod in the first XI. However, he will have game time for sure. It will be a valuable experience for him to share the dressing room with many veterans and get exposure to the highest level of football.
