This will be the second year of the festival season when the celebrations are restricted because of the Covid pandemic, and the muted celebration has certainly affected the lives of idol makers.
The second wave has given the idol makers one of the worst times of their life. Most of the Puja committee throughout the country, especially in Delhi have decided not to organize Pujo, and others organisers have ordered smaller, less priced idols to suit their reduced budget induced by the pandemic.
Kumartuli is one place in West Bengal which supplies the idols of gods and goddesses to various parts of the country and abroad and the artisans there earn the most during the Durga Pujo.
