Good observation.
Fukuyama observes that Trump is one of the few leaders that fits into all three of the aforementioned definitions. He has brought plans like building the wall to Mexico and other subsidiary programs that look enticing and wonderful now but shall cause a huge economic drain to the US in the future. Trump has gone all over the country talking about the importance of the ‘true Americans’ and denounced other ethnic and racial groups. During his campaign he also shows the democrats in a negative light and as a party that does not part of the ‘true people’. He passed on the theory that Obama was not a US citizen and that the country was run by a foreigner. He has carefully targeted the population that is feeling ignored and scared due to the social changes that are occurring today. For example, he called Mexicans that enter the US to bring rape and other crimes to their holy land and it’s time to ‘Make America Great Again’. Thirdly, he talks directly to the people through his social media handles. Presidents before him hosted press conferences and official television spots to address the people, usually done by their press secretary. Donald Trump tweets his plans, therefore forming a direct relationship with the people. This removes the barrier of the president being away from the people and giving the people a feeling of oneness.
