In Everton's matchday programme before their 2-0 Merseyside derby win over bitter rivals Liverpool in midweek, Pickford spoke with the club for their 'Matchday Takeover' segment. The England keeper was asked what one rule change he would institute and his answer was to, "Scrap fouls and let's get on with it."
On top of "mixing up" players' dress code before and after games, the 30-year-old suggested doing away with fouls in matches. The stopper also said his ideal VIP guest to an Everton game would be Denzel Washington as he is his favourite actor.
Football has seen plenty of rule changes over the years, such as the introduction of red and yellow cards, the scrapping of the back-pass rule, and more. More technology has been ushered into the sport, with VAR the most noteworthy and disruptive one in recent years, but this Pickford proposal - tongue in cheek or not - is unlikely to see the light of day.
