Delhi Capitals sign Gulbadin Naib for injured Marsh
Delhi Capitals have made a significant move in the IPL by signing Afghanistan allrounder Gulbadin Naib as a replacement for the injured Mitchell Marsh for the remainder of the season. This marks Naib's debut in the IPL, and he joins the Capitals after being acquired for his reserve price of INR 50 lakh.
Mitchell Marsh, who played four games for DC before being sidelined with a hamstring injury, will not be returning to the team. Despite his absence, DC's head coach Ricky Ponting expressed confidence that Marsh's recovery will not affect his participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup, where he is expected to lead Australia. Marsh's injury history has unfortunately led to his premature exit from the IPL for the second consecutive season.
In the matches Marsh played this season, he managed 61 runs in three innings and bowled eight overs for one wicket. His absence presents an opportunity for Naib to make his mark and contribute to DC's campaign. Currently placed sixth on the points table, DC will look to Naib to bolster their squad as they aim to secure wins in their remaining fixtures against Mumbai Indians, Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Royal Challengers Bangalore, and Lucknow Super Giants.
Gulbadin Naib's inclusion adds depth and versatility to the Delhi Capitals lineup, and fans will be eager to see how he performs in his maiden IPL stint.
