A lot of rumours came to light in last month however one big bid reportedly went under the radar. Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt reportedly turned down an opportunity to join Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window, as per L'Équipe.
PSG, who were in search of a center-back due to Milan Skriniar's potential season-ending injury, pursued various options, including Diego Llorente from Leeds United and Leny Yoro from Lille OSC. Despite securing Lucas Beraldo earlier in January, the injury setback led PSG to continue their quest for defensive reinforcements.
Given their need, the French side also made a surprising bid for de Ligt as revealed by RMC Sport. The report states that PSG put in significant effort to secure the Dutch international, but ultimately, it was de Ligt's decision to reject the move to the Parc des Princes.
The Dutch defender is a regular for Bayern Munich and wanted to stay on until the summer atleast. With more mids expected to come forth after the season, it has to be seen if de Ligt will consider a move at that point.
