According to the Mirror via 90min, "Manchester United have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt after his admission that his struggle for minutes is not down to any injury concerns. The Dutchman is frustrated with his role and could look to reunite with Erik ten Hag this summer."
The 24-year-old centreback has been in and out of the starting XI under Thomas Tuchel this season. De Ligt was an unused substitute as Bayern fell to a 3-0 loss against their title rivals Leverkusen over the weekend. Tuchel decided to start Kim Min Jae, Eric Dier, and Dayot Upamecano over the Dutchman for the game.
Kimmich was brought on as a substitute in the 60th minute to replace Upamecano however De Ligt was completely shunned for the entire game even though his performances were impressive in his last few appearances.
Why was De Ligt not used? This could have been Tuchel's ploy to use the youngster in the Champions League game against Lazio on Wednesday. Will a lack of enough minutes make the Dutchman consider a summer exit? Let me know your thoughts...
