Chennai Super Kings registered their first victory of IPL 2023 last night against the Lucknow Super Giants. This was the second game of their campaign, and with this win, they have successfully overcome the close defeat against the Gujarat Titans in the opening match of the season.
Last night’s match was a high scoring one. Having won the toss, LSG opted to bowl first. Ruturaj Gaikwad (57 off 31) and Devon Conway’s (47 off 29) brilliant knocks helped Chennai Super Kings set a massive first inning total of 217, the highest in the season so far. Coming in to chase, Lucknow Super Giants did well but they fells short of just 12 runs in the end.
Chennai Super Kings legend Suresh Raina had come to watch the match today and after the victory, he came in to meet with his ex-teammates. Chennai Super Kings shared images of Raina’s ‘re-union’ with the players on their social media platforms.
They shared a picture of Raina hugging Mahendra Singh Dhoni with the caption: “Home game at Anbuden is never complete without 7&3,” talking about the legendary duo of the two. They also posted a group selfie of Robin Uthappa, Raina, Dhoni, Ravindra Jadeja and Ambati Rayudu with the caption: “No captions. Just live the picture!”
Apart from Suresh Raina, the CSK players also reunited with another of their ex-teammates, i.e, Krishnappa Gowtham. He is in the LSG squad this season and scored 17 off 11 deliveries tonight. After the match, MS Dhoni met with Gowtham and his family. CSK shared a picture of that too on their social media handle with the caption: “A Cute #Yellovely reunion”.
Chennai Super Kings will take on arch rivals Mumbai Indians in their next match on 8th April. That will be a clash worth watching.
