CREATING NEWER NICHES OF ART

2023 April issue of newsletter - Punarjjani Bharat

As we bring forth the third issue of Punarjjani Bharat after our introductory issue on December 1st and the second issue on January 15th, we cannot help but feel overwhelmed by a sense of gratitude towards you. As all good things take time, we, too, gave two and a half months to share enriching stories in the form of articles and reports that inspire our readers to become torchbearers of creativity and independence.

When intended to be used for its purpose, technology can do wonders. As the world becomes more fragmented and disconnected, our art forms continue to bridge the gap and bring us closer. Through our series of newsletters, we desire to be the voice for every artist and every art form and highlight the rich diversity of Indian culture and heritage by creating a plethora of digital content.

We also want to create a space for everyone to express themselves without judgment. Therefore, Punarjjani Cultural Centre has joined hands with Pixstory - a free digital media platform committed to safety, transparency and integrity. Pixstory and Narthaki have come together to host an event titled "Pix Talks - The Art of Writing a Critique in the Digital Age" on April 11th, 2023, at the Kailash Building, New Delhi, from 2 pm to 5 pm.

With the ever-growing advent of technology, bringing more attention to artists becomes imperative. How can technology play a role in learning about those art forms that almost did not make it amidst keeping up with the new trend of promoting fast art? In this issue, Joydeep Mukherjee weighs in on 'reviving an age-old instrument' and what happened afterwards.

Last but not least, the 40th Natya Kala Conference in Chennai showcased some exceptional artists of Indian classical dance. We have the honour to feature some moments from the event.
