Srinivas BV is the national president of the Indian Youth Congress, his work during the time of pandemic acted as an armour for countless people in the country.
In the recent interaction with him, he narrated his ride that was full of poignant and challenging moments.
The covid relief work started in march 2020, beginning with the awareness programs and helping migrants reach their home to roaming around to find hospital beds in 2021's second wave, it was all done with the team work of Indian Youth Congress.
Srinivas tells how he found the bed for the patient but even then couldn't save his life. " There was patient outside LNJP hospital who was in urgent need of a bed and had some severe breathing problem, his age would be 28, we were able to arrange the bed at Ambedkar hospital in Rohini and in fifteen minutes we were going to shift him there but he lost his life in those few minutes, i was shattered", he said.
Incessantly involved in helping people was not easy, his family did not know about this, " I did not tell them anything about this and I even removed all the news channels from cable, but one day we got the case where in that family, mother died, father was in icu and son was abroad. We arranged cremation for the woman and that video was gone viral and from somewhere my mother got to know about it. It was hard for me to convince them but eventually they agreed."he tells. Srinivas says that his family used to be worried and called him thrice a day to keep a check on him.
He says that," we are thankful to God that no one in our team including me got infected, but even if that would have happened, we had a team of three layer, where people used to work in two shifts, there was control room, there was a team working in the field, the work was given on alternate days and was divided equally so that everything could function smoothly".
Even now they're helping in vaccination registration in rural areas.
