Courtois Could Return Next Week! Should the Belgian be Preferred Over Lunin?
Real Madrid's goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois might make his comeback next weekend against Cadiz in La Liga. He has been out the entire season due to an ACL tear just before the opening game and a meniscus tear later on. Coach Carlo Ancelotti hinted at Courtois's return after Madrid's recent 1-0 win over Real Sociedad.
Kepa Arrizabalaga got a rare start in the Sociedad match but is likely to step aside for Andriy Lunin, who has been the stand-in for Courtois. The Ukrainian is expected to start for Real Madrid in their UEFA Champions League game against Bayern on 30th April in Munich.
However, with Courtois possibly returning against Cadiz, Ancelotti faces a decision. Should the Real Madrid manager stick with Lunin? Or should he bring back Courtois immediately? If the Belgian does return next weekend, Ancelotti would have to make a decision about playing Lunin or Courtois for the second leg of Real Madrid's semi-final tie against Bayern Munich!
