CHAK DE!! HOOOO CHAK DE!! INDIAAA
Now Iâm sure many of you will be wondering didnât India just lose to Belgium why is she still so happy, still cheering for them?
So whoever hasnât watched the match Please go watch it now. It wasnât just a game it was a fight, a fight worth watching. When the chak de! India song said:
âKOI TO CHAL JIDD FADIYE; DUBE,TARIYE YA MARIYE.â
Todayâs match was a perfect metaphor for thatâs how they played today taking a lead after going down early against Belgium. Didnât just give up in the beginning itself, came back, played, scored and gave a tough competition. Harmanpreet converted a penalty corner and Mandeep scored from open play in the first quarter. After the first half Belgians knew all they needed to do was finding an Indian foot in the D, and they did, plenty of times. Alexander Hendrickx scored from the penalty corner to make it 2-2 and then PC! Leads to PC! Leads to PC! And that was a hat-trick of his shots. Saved the last open goal sans Sreejesh, all of Belgium's goals resulted from Penalty Corners. A 5-2 score line in the end doesn't reflect how close this game was, especially in the first half. It just shows whose game it was.
But it's not all over for India. A bronze medal match beckons with either Germany or Australia. They'll have to pick up from here and get back out roaring in a couple of days. A medal, irrespective of the color, will be massive. Â Indians are looking to bring glory back to the sport in the country as they played in the Tokyo Olympics semi-final today. The team made the semi-finals at the Games after a gap of 49 years. Letâs cheer for them once again.
Iâm usually not an early to bed, early to rise kind of person but then the excitement of the match woke me up even before the alarm rang. And I donât even regret a second of giving up my sleep for this.
âSo what if the game wasnât ours, the day definitely is.â
