At least a section of men, especially gym rats, tend to believe that going for testosterone injections or what is known as steroids, can increase sex drive, along with muscle mass.
They claim to experience an immediate boost in libido with some even saying it gives them enough energy to have sex up to three-times a day or more.
So if steroids can increase energy levels and sex drive, then why do they have such a bad reputation?
One of the main reasons is that injecting testosterones can upset the hormonal balance of your body. Testosterone is a hormone, which is produced naturally by the body in both men and women. In men, its level is much higher, though.
So when you inject more steroids or man-made testosterones into your body, it can distort the overall hormonal balance, leading to serious health complications in the long run. So the trade off you are making is long-term pain for short-term gain.
For every Arnold Schwarzenegger who says he doesn’t “regret using the steroids” there is a Sidharth Shukla who pays the price. To be fair, the former California Governor and champion bodybuilder, however, went on to qualify his statement saying that his use of “steroids was actually limited”. And that he would use them (both injectable and oral capsules) only in the months leading up to a bodybuilding competition. The problem with that statement is there is no way you can predict how your body will react, irrespective of whether you are taking it in “limited” or “large” quantities.
