Dhirajlal Shah, renowned for producing numerous Bollywood films, passed away early on Monday morning after undergoing treatment for over a fortnight at a Mumbai hospital. His brother, Hasmukh, confirmed the news, stating that Dhirajlal had been battling health complications, including COVID-19 followed by lung issues, leading to multi-organ failure.
Anil Sharma, expressing his condolences, described Dhirajlal as not just a talented producer but also a kind-hearted individual who revolutionized the video industry. Harish Sughand praised Dhirajlal for his pivotal role in acquiring the video rights of "Shahenshah," which propelled him to prominence as the "video king" with rights to numerous films.
The Indian Film TV Producers Council mourned Dhirajlal's demise on X (formerly Twitter), sharing a photo and extending heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Dhirajlal's notable productions include "The Hero: Love Story of a Spy" (2003), "Krishna" (1996), "Gambler" (1995), and "Vijaypath" (1994), leaving behind a lasting legacy in the Indian film industry. He is survived by his wife, Manju Dhiraj Shah, two daughters, Shital Punit Goel and Sapna Dhiraj Shah, son Jimit Shah, and daughter-in-law Poonam Shah.
