Barcelona's vice-president confirms talks with Lionel Messi's camp over a potential return
There have been growing talks over Lionel Messi's potential club next season. The Argentine has still not signed a contract extension with PSG, as his contract expires in the upcoming summer. MLS could be another option for Messi, but he is not inclined to leaving Europe just yet.
Barcelona vice-president Rafa Yuste has confirmed initiating talks with Lionel Messi over a potential return to Camp Nou. Lionel Messi was forced to leave Barcelona in the summer of 2021 owing to the worsening financial conditions at the club.
Rafa Yuste has stated that he would love to see the World Cup winner back at Barcelona, given how much he loves the club and the country.
"We’ve been in contact with Leo Messi’s camp. Leo knows how much we appreciate him and I’d love for him to come back," said Rafa.
“For sure Messi loves Barça and the city, so we hope to find the right conditions to continue his history here," he added.
It will be interesting to see as to how PSG respond to this situation, given that they want to keep Lionel Messi at the club for at least another season. However, it seems that if Barcelona are able to put a decent offer on the table, there is no reason as to why they cannot bring Messi back to the club.
