Barcelona, Arsenal Transfers Not Happening Made Me Move to Al Hilal ~ Ruben Neves
Former Wolves star Ruben Neves made the move to Al Hilal last summer. Still 26, the switch from the Premier League to the Saudi Pro League shocked a lot of fans as the midfielder was in the prime of his career. However, Neves has now made it clear how this move happened in the first place.
Talking to O Jogo, Neves said, "I was close to three clubs and it ended up not happening, which saddened me and helped me make the decision to go to Al Hilal. I didn't want to mention names, but Barcelona was one of the hottest and it wasn't a lie. It was close to happening, just like with Arsenal. Then there was another club outside England. These were events that happened and then, with this golden opportunity, I had no doubts about accepting it. I was already hardened by transfers that didn't happen."
Though Neves is open to returning back to European leagues in the future, he feels that the Saudi Pro League could further develop in the next few years and become one of the top leagues in the world. Will the Al Hilal star end the season unbeaten with his club? Let me know your thoughts...
