Barcelona have been busy this transfer window. After managing to appoint Xavi as their manager, Joan Laporta has already secured the signing of both Dani Alves and Ferran Torres despite challenges faced by the club in terms of wage bills and player registrations.
The Catalonia based club have advanced negotiations to sign Spain’s forward, Alvaro Morata. Sources close to the deal have indicated to the reliable reporter Javier Miguel that the operation is 95% closed and minor details are yet to be solved before making the transfer official in two weeks.
The deal will be carried out as a loan with future purchase options. Morata’s agent Juanma Lopez will travel to Barcelona before closing the operation. Xavi decided on Morata after discussing details with Spain’s manager Luis Enrique. Barcelona can make a total of 5 registrations in the first-team while they will have to sell, in order to do more business from here on.
Mateu Alemany is working hard to solve issues regarding outgoings, especially the contract situation of Ousmane Dembele, which is currently at an impasse.
As per Goal’s reliable Italian journalist Romeo Agresti, Morata has already agreed personal terms with Barcelona on an 18 months guaranteed contract. But he believes that Morata’s exit could be a bit complicated since Juventus are looking to replace the Spanish forward first before letting him go.
Atletico Madrid haven’t totally agreed on the transfer yet but confidence is high in Barcelona’s camp. Meanwhile, Xavi is hopeful that Morata will be available for the El Clasico on January 12th. The club should be careful of financial fair play and try finding solutions to manage their books before making decisions to register new players.
Memphis Depay could be on the verge of leaving if things don’t end well for the player at Barcelona. Laporta will organize a meeting in the coming week with super-agent Mino Raiola to discuss summer transfers and lay down foundations before making a concrete move for future investments for players such as Haaland and Mazraoui.
