Born on 4 June 1981 in New Delhi, Shrimati Arupa Lahiry received her training under Chitra Visweswaran in Bharatanatyam.

An ICCR empanelled 'B' grade artist of Doordarshan, she has received a Senior Scholarship in Bharatanatyam from the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, and TATA Fellowship from the National Folklore Support Centre, Chennai.

She has been conferred the Shikhar Samman by the National Hindi Parishad and Sringara Mani from Sur Singar Samsad, Mumbai.

Shrimati Arupa Lahiry is awarded the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar for the year 2019 for her overall contribution in the field of dance (Bharatanatyam)
