With Arsenal gaining just 9 out of the possible 21 in the tail-end of the season, pundits and fans on social media have started undervaluing Arsenal’s effort this season with City looking to win another title under Pep. With the average age of their starting eleven being 24, this season would improve the squad’s mentality and experience to challenge for the title again next season.
Their squad looks knackered toward the end of the season despite their early exits in all the cup competitions. Looking at the past transfer activities of Arteta and Edu, Arsenal would look to strengthen the quality of their rotation options, especially in defense given Saliba’s and Gabriel’s injuries.
One of the main reasons for Arsenal’s drop-off is their predictable playing style not being as effective as City’s. But with time, maturity, and some additions to the squad, Arsenal would look to challenge in all fronts. Any Arsenal fan at the start of the campaign would have been happy if the team achieved the top 4 this season but now with disappointment on their faces despite the same objective being achieved goes to show how this team has raised their standards across the season.
Even though it’s a bitter ending for the season, this season cements Arsenal’s foot in the door to go toe to toe with one of the most formidable teams the premier league has ever seen in recent times. So, it is best to digest the disappointment for the short term in hopes of the successful seasons ahead for the Gunners.
