Ambati Rayudu Expresses Desire to See Rohit Sharma Leading CSK, Predicts Leadership Role Post MS Dhoni's Retirement
As the 17th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) approaches, Ambati Rayudu, a seasoned player associated with both Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings (CSK), shared insights on the league. Rayudu expressed views on the leadership dynamics within teams and suggested that if MS Dhoni retires, Rohit Sharma could lead CSK.
In an interview with News24, Rayudu highlighted the challenge for Hardik Pandya, who replaced Rohit Sharma as the captain of Mumbai Indians. Rayudu noted the distinct setups of Gujarat Titans and Mumbai Indians, stating that Pandya might find it tough to lead the team immediately. He recommended Pandya playing for Mumbai Indians for a year before taking on the captaincy.
Rayudu expressed his wish to see Rohit Sharma in the CSK lineup, emphasizing that Sharma could continue playing IPL for the next 5-6 years. He envisioned Rohit Sharma leading CSK if MS Dhoni decides to retire, recognizing Sharma's experience and leadership capabilities.
Rohit Sharma, the fourth-highest run-getter in IPL history, holds a prominent position in Mumbai Indians. The league is set to commence on March 22, with CSK facing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the opening match.
