ADOR Issues Response to HYBE's Audit, Alleges ILLIT of Copying NewJeans
ADOR has officially responded to reports of HYBE initiating an audit against its management, including CEO Min Hee Jin, following suspicions of ADOR's attempt to gain independence.
In a statement released on April 22, ADOR addressed concerns over ILLIT allegedly copying NewJeans, stressing the importance of protecting NewJeans and fostering a healthy music industry and cultural scene in Korea.
ADOR emphasized that HYBE operates a multi-label system to encourage independent creativity among its labels, including ADOR. However, it accused HYBE of infringing upon ADOR's cultural achievements through the actions of BELIFT LAB, particularly with the debut of ILLIT, which ADOR claims bears striking similarities to NewJeans.
According to ADOR, ILLIT's resemblance to NewJeans extends to various aspects of entertainment activities, including styling, choreography, and overall presentation, leading to confusion among fans and the public.
ADOR directly implicated HYBE and its chairman, Bang Si Hyuk, in the alleged copying, accusing them of prioritizing short-term profits over originality and cultural integrity.
Despite raising concerns with HYBE and BELIFT LAB, ADOR claims that its grievances were met with dismissive responses and delays in addressing the issue, culminating in the sudden suspension and dismissal of CEO Min Hee Jin.
ADOR refuted HYBE's claims that Min Hee Jin was attempting to seize control of ADOR, asserting that her actions were solely aimed at protecting NewJeans' cultural achievements.
The statement concludes with ADOR reaffirming its commitment to safeguarding NewJeans' artistic integrity and seeking accountability from HYBE and BELIFT LAB.
ADOR also hinted at future actions, including further discussions with NewJeans members and legal representatives, to address the situation comprehensively.
Through its statement, ADOR urged HYBE and BELIFT LAB to acknowledge their wrongdoing and contribute positively to the Korean music industry while respecting the achievements of others.
