From Thursday, the historocal Chandni Chowk in old Delhi will no longer be the place it used to be - messy and chaotic.
No handcarts, e-rickshaws, commercial vehicles and cars will be allowed to ply on the road what previously was a familiar scene with shoppers and pedestrians getting pushed from all sides.
The place has got a massive facelift.
Some of the amenities that are being provided are public toilets, benches for visitors, loading/unloading bays for vans ferrying stocks to the shops.
The main Red Fort-Chandni Chowk traffic junction has been given an Oxford Street scramble crossing look.
Apart from making it a pedestrian friendly zone, there will be raised crossovers for cyclists, decorative lights and flowering plants.
