President Joe Biden promised taking swift action on a broad range of issues ranging from the COVID-19 pandemic to preventing violence against transgender women and addressing climate change and systematic racism within his first 100 days in office.
While Biden’s completed 16 of 61 promises along with the congressional passage of his $1.9 trillion coronavirus aid package, some of his key campaign pledges are still awaiting action.
Out of his 12 promises on addressing Inequality, nine are still in progress, including:
1. Reversing Trump policies on investigations of violence against women in colleges.
2. Addressing systemic racism in U.S. institutions.
2. Restoring transgender students’ access to school facilities.
4. Directing federal resources to help prevent violence against transgender women, particularly transgender women of color.
5. Beginning criminal justice reform.
6. Appointing a Special Envoy for the Human Rights of the LGBTQ+ community.
7. Ensuring his administration reflects and represents the country it serves.
8. Appointing a commission to study sexual assault in the military.
9. Signing the Equality Act.
Three promises on Inequality are either awaiting action, or are in initial stages:
1. Creating a Cabinet-level working group that focuses on union organizing and collective bargaining.
2. Directing Cabinet to review federal programs serving communities experiencing violence and identifying reforms to address resulting trauma.
3. Creating a national policy oversight commission.
