A Future China Strategy for India continues....

Three or four different possible strategies are open to India to continue its relationship with China in the most advantageous manner:

The present strategy of appeasement at the diplomatic level

A strategy of confrontation over ‘areas of influence'.

A non-strategy of strategic confusion

A strategy of mutual understanding and armed good neighbourliness with confidence building measures, which would

necessarily include settling the outstanding boundary issue as a precondition for achieving the desired quality of Sino-Indian relations.

It should be obvious that the only suitable option is the last one, which also meets the requirements of both countries.
