Raja Narinder Nath, Sir Manohar Lal and Rai Bahadur Kanwar Sain. He made a number of allegations of non-feasance and mal-feasance against them. I had been a student of Professor Ruchi Ram Sahni in the Government College, Lahore. I would not have accepted a brief in opposition to him ordinarily. But on the other side were ranged, my old Principal Rai Bahadur Kanwar Sain, Sir Manohar Lal and Raja Narendra Nath. I could not refuse to defend them. Sardar Harnam Singh, who recently retired as a Judge of the Punjab High Court, appeared for Professor Ruchi Ram Sahni. Professor Ruchi Ram got very much annoyed with me at the time but he eventually forgave me. The suit was dismissed by Mr. Justice Skemp who instead of removing the other trustees, ordered the removal of Professor Ruchi Ram from the trust. He went up inLetters Patent appeal. The case was eventually decided by compromise, all the trustees retaining their seats on the trust.
During the year 1937, the marriage of my brother-in-law, Lala Mehnge Shah took place. He is the only brother of my deceased wife and had been brought up by me. He is now serving in the Solan Brewery.
In order to complete the Glacier Product Factory, I bought a bottle-washing machine from Germany and engaged as my chemist, a young man, Harish Chander Bhatnagar, a research student of the Punjab University, working under Dr. Shanti Sarup Bhatnagar. I sent him at my own cost to Lyallpur for training in the production of fruit juices and making of jams etc. The name Glacier was suggested by my sou Daya Krishan for this factory. In order to find drinking water for the factory, I installed a motor engine at the famous Rerwan well, a mile from Pathankot.
After 14 years of residence at the Fane Road House, I managed to take on lease a house on Abbott Road from Dr. Mulk Raj Sawhney.
