Diversions of a Busy Lawyer continues....
Some brick-kiln owners of Pathankot there upon approached me with the offer that if I closed my kiln, they would pay me a stipulated some of money as compensation every year for not running it. Rather foolishly, I agreed, to find after receiving the first payment that they would not pay me a pie.
I had been representing the Anjuman-i-Islamia, Lahore, in some litigation in which it had got involved. The Anjuman was the leading organisation of the Punjab Muslims and was running the Islamia College, Lahore. After the successful termination of its appeal in the High Court it passed a resolution of thanks in appreciation of my services in its cause.

A TRIP TO EUROPE
IN JULY, 1932 I made my first trip abroad in company with several of my friends including Lala Jagan Nath Aggarwal. When I boarded the Frontier Mail I discovered that I had left the railway ticket with my Munshi, Sohan Lal Gupta I From Bombay we travelled by the Lloyd Trestino boat, Voctoria. It was beautifully furnished and the dining room was air-conditioned. There was plenty of food. It was on the boat, that on the persuasion of a number of friends, I shaved off my moustaches. The boat halted for a day at Naples to enable us to take a trip to the ruins of Pompeii, destroyed by the eruption of the Vesuvius. An Italian guide who knew English helped us in going about the town and in buying our requirements. Thomas Cook and Sons helped us in making out our tour programme. At Geneva, it was a wrench to leave the boat which had become a second home to us during our ten days’ stay! From Geneva we went to Florence, one of the most beautiful of Italian towns. An Indian prince is also buried here. After seeing some of the interesting places in Florence, we moved on to Rome.
