Recreations Continues...
One day Rambhuj Dutt began to swim in the ice cold water of Bhagsu Nath spring—a spring of gushing ice cold water, the like of which is not found anywhere else in India. When he came out of the spring, he fell unconscious, but was soon revived.
It was during this stay that we visited Talnoo estate near Nadi Village. This we purchased later on. It is a white elephant at present, but may become a paying estate during my grandson’sbtime. I have planted western fruit trees here, almonds from California, apples and pears, cherris from Kashmir, Kulu, California, England and France, and also chestnuts. We are trying to grow potatoes here and vegetables. I have built a residential house here which we often occupy during the summer. The place is a mile and half above Dharamsala Cantonment.
A number of local trips were made to Ilaqa via Tiruhand. The perpetual snow glacier in Ilaqa is about three miles long and a mile broad. It is a beautiful sight. below the Andrar Pass. 15,000 ft. above sea level.
Life in Gurdaspur was very happy, with enough legal work. good tennis, social functions, and bathing trips on summer evenings to Tibri on Upper Bari Doab canal. They were the happiest days of my life. I had then three sons. Daya Krishan born in 1913. Purshotam born in 1915 and Maharaj born in October 1916. Purshotam who was for some time works manager in National Instruments Factory. Calcutta, is a graduate of the London School of Economics, and is now working in Bangalore in the Hindustan Machine Tools. Maharaj was originally named Karam Chand. He changed his name to Maharaj Kishan because he liked Dr. Maharaj Krishan who lived next door to us at Lahore. He is now the proprietor of Glacier Products, Pathankot.
While at Gurdaspur, amongst other deeds of conveyance I drafted a will for Lala Barru Shah. In consultation with me and father he dedicated his property for the foundation of a charitable Ayurvedic dispensary at Dharamsala and Kangra.
