Once face-to-face with the police team, the criminal whipped out a weapon and swung it at the policemen. The constable, an ex- wrestler, evaded the blow and succeeded in overpowering and disarming the criminal. To his horror, the policeman realized that the apprehended offender was carrying a daulatiya. A search of his person revealed stones tied around his waist. Constable Suresh Yadav immediately knew he had caught a prized suspect. He brought the culprit and his daulatiya to the Kalkaji police station with the help of the two home guards.

The significance of the arrest was not lost on anyone at the police station and the news was immediately disseminated to all concerned officers in the district. Arun Kampani, ACP of the subdivision, reached the police station and asked his best detectives to report to him post-haste. The interrogation of the arrested culprit was not an easy task. With great difficulty, he revealed his identity to the interrogators as Ramji Lal of village Naya Khera in the Jhansi district of Uttar Pradesh. He further disclosed the likely whereabouts of his companions who had escaped from the spot. ACP Kampani dispatched a police team promptly to nab the three culprits from Bata Chowk in Faridabad.

When the police team reached the likely hideout, they realized that the culprits had not yet arrived there. The cops lay in wait and after some time saw a few shadowy figures lurking in the vicinity. They were our quarries and were nabbed and brought to the police station in Kalkaji.

They turned out to be tough nuts to crack. Even to get them to tell us their correct names was a difficult task. It was thanks to the considerable skill used in the interrogation

And our patience that they finally cracked. They finally owned up to being members of an erstwhile criminal tribe, having committed the murders of Mrs Veerawali, Shraddha Khetrapal, Mr and Mrs Mittal, Mrs Saddy and her son Deepanshu, Major Bakshi and a few other sensational murders from other districts as well.
