10 Indian para shooters make cut for Tokyo Paralympic Games
Ten Indian para shooters have qualified for the 2020 Tokyo Paralympics. It’s for the first time in the history of the Indian Paralympic Games that 10 shooters have been able to achieve the required benchmark for the qualification. In the previous edition of the games in Rio, there was only one Indian shooter.
“Rubina Francis has qualified for the Tokyo Paralympics with a world record while Avani Lekhara has qualified for all four wheelchair shooting events which is a great achievement. Hoping they will make the country proud in the Tokyo Games,” says Paralympic Committee of India (PCI) president Deepa Malik, who is a silver medallist of 2016 Rio Paralympic Games.
“From just one shooter in past Para Games to ten in Tokyo, we have really taken a big stride and we are hoping that this time we will be able to win record medals,” said Kavinder Chaudhary, vice-president PCI.
