National Security Doctrine for Global Reach continues...
The first and foremost resolve of patriotic Indians has to be that the Indian state will not negotiate with terrorists. By this standard, it was damaging to the national fabric to have negotiated with the hijackers in Kandhahar. Instead the government should have counter threatened the Taliban, and the hijackers with tactical nuclear weapons if any Indian passenger aboard the abducted aircraft was harmed. We should subsequently have pursued the hijackers with the same determination and stamina as the US government did with the Libyan subversives who masterminded the blowing up of the Panam Boeing 747 aircraft over Lockerbie in Scotland. In the same vein of national resolve, the union government should have despatched our elite Israeli-trained commandos to storm LTTE supremo V. Prabhakaranโs Mullaitheevu hideout where he is coolly sitting at a stoneโs throw from Rameshwaram.
Second, the nation has to recognize that the root of terrorism in India and the undermining of the nation state, is the ISI-LTTE nexus. Our short term goal ought to be to break this nexus. India should attempt that by directly talking to Pakistan, mobilising the US, and most of all applying to China for help. Such talking should carry a sting [such as hot pursuit of terrorists, or pre-emptive bombing of camps], and a determination to administer it if necessary. Pakistan should not be in doubt about that.
Simultaneously to trying to break the ISI-LTTE nexus, the Indian government should pursue with vigour the apprehending of the LTTE supreme V. Prabhakaran and his second-in-command Pottu Amman, who are proclaimed offenders under Indian law, and who have challenged Indian sovereignty and national self-respect by assassinating a former Prime Minister, Rajiv Gandhi. The government had set up, more than two years ago, a Multi
Disciplinary Monitoring Agency (MDMA) under the CBI with its primary task to hunt down Prabhakaran and Amman.
